Do you have proven experience of developing and overseeing Operational Technology standards and projects?

We now have an excellent opportunity for an Operational Technology (OT) Standards Engineer to join our Group IT function. This role can be based from Bodmin or Exeter, delivering a first-class service for our internal & external customers and keeping our services running 24/7.

What will you be doing?

As our Operational Technology Standards Engineer, you will seek to understand business needs, assess options, produce strategies, designs, deliverables and roadmaps to align business strategy with Operational Technology (OT) strategy.

You'll provide design direction to projects and quality review of design options put forward by projects and third parties. You will ensure project solutions are going to be deliverable in the wider OT service context and identify project gaps, constraints, issues and risks in design.

The Operational Technology Standards Engineer will develop OT standards and ensure adoption and adherence through ongoing engagement with Operational staff, Engineering, Regional Managers and third-party contractors.

The scope of the technology base is wide, including sensors, instrumentation, plant networks, PLCs, SCADA, process control and telemetry. Additionally, you will be required to represent the strategic interests of South West Water at national bodies such as IET, WITS and Water 4.0.

What do you need?

 *Degree or equivalent in a relevant IT discipline *Relevant industrial control apprenticeship, qualifications or training *Extensive and broad-based operational / industrial technology experience in a medium or large organisation *Familiarity of ITIL and PRINCE2 project governance or equivalent *Experience working with drinking and waste water treatment automation processes *Demonstratable experience working with colleagues, contractors and partners to deliver site-based industrial technology *Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to influence change *Resilient with the ability to adapt to changing situations and reorganise tasks, people and priorities *Ability to follow agreed processes, and provide suggestions in relation to ongoing improvement *Full driving licence
