Job Title: Principal Consultant – Environmental Impact Assessment

Location: London, Wiltshire

Salary: �45,000 - �50,000 plus car allowance and benefits


A unique opportunity has arisen for a suitably experienced Principal EIA Consultant to join a dynamic impact assessment team based in either London or Chippenham. To succeed in this role, you must have a proven track record of EIA project management and undertaking robust technical reviews of UK-based EIAs. You will have an advanced understanding of business development, commercial aspects and EIA strategy.

Role & Company:

As a Principal EIA Consultant, you will be managing a team who work on a wide variety of different schemes committed to adding value to their projects. Your key responsibilities will focus on EIA strategy advice in conjunction with the Project Director, daily project team and client liaison, project management of tender/fee proposals for EIA and non-EIA projects and attending project meetings, including public and stakeholder consultations. Day to day tasks will include detailed report writing, (including technical reviews and EIA chapters), site inspections, desk-based environmental baseline data interpretation, attending client and industry events and mentoring a team of junior staff.

You will be joining one of the UK’s top 10 multi-disciplinary consultancies based across 17 offices focusing on innovative solutions within Energy, Transport, Building and Environment & Health. Qualifications & Experience:

The successful candidate will have an advanced understanding of UK EIA guidelines and applications are highly encouraged from those experienced within the property sector, but also within infrastructure, transport and energy sectors. To be successful in this role you will have:

* A degree in environmental sciences, environmental engineering or a related environmental discipline
* IEMA (or equivalent membership)
* Prior EIA project management experience on complex projects
* A strong ability to contribute to the formulation of EIA strategies
* Ability to interpret UK environmental guidelines, policies, plans and legislative requirements
* Experience of successfully working with various specialists and sub-consultants in the delivery of projects
* Competent and efficient report writing skills, delivering a consistent EIA approach and reporting style
* Ability to use a range of IT packages (including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and MS Project)
* Knowledge of a particular environmental specialism would be advantageous but is not essential
