Purpose:

To join and assist a team of contract management professionals within Ricardo Energy & Environment, responsible for ensuring the identification and mitigation of contract risks and liabilities and legal compliance of the Company’s commercial contracts, while exercising a high degree of judgement to maximise commercial opportunities. Internal and external training will be offered.

Key accountabilities:

Support and assist the Commercial and Procurement Team in:

Ensuring commercial arrangements maximise rewards with an appropriate balance of risk.

Review, draft and negotiation of sales and purchasing related contracts such as services, non-disclosure, memorandum of understanding, licence, collaboration, and intermediary agreements.

Providing commercial support and guidance to the business in the preparation of expressions of interest/pre-qualification questionnaires, tender submissions and other proposals.

Effectively pursuing variations and resolution of disputes.

Providing accurate and timely contractual information to the bid pipeline, contract conversion and filing systems.

Providing advice to sales and delivery staff on a wide range of commercial issues such as intellectual property rights, liability and insurance, data protection etc

Participate in the provision of commercial risk awareness training

Supplier evaluation and onboarding

Desirable key competencies and experience:

(These competencies and experience are desirable but not essential. All candidates will be considered)

An understanding of commercial and financial practice and experience operating in a business finance and/or commercial role

Some contracts knowledge / experience and/or purchasing experience

A sound working knowledge of contract law and of recent developments in related legislation, or a legal background

A degree or equivalent in law or a business-related subject

IACCM Membership/Certification and/or CIPS.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels

Proficient levels of written, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
