Job Title: Junior Ecologist

Location: North Leicestershire

Salary: 18,000 - 22,000

Opportunity:

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated site-based Junior Ecologist to join the UK’s largest ecological contracting organisation. If you are educated to degree level in an environmental related discipline with good ecological survey experience, then we’d like to hear from you.

This role would suit a proactive Graduate Ecologist or an experienced Seasonal Ecologist who is looking for a permanent role.

Role & Company:

As a Junior Ecologist, you will assist in carrying out ecological surveys, including extended Phase 1 Habitat surveys. The majority of your work will focus on assisting with site-based surveys, therefore the ability to work ecology survey hours is essential. Experience of assisting with Bat and Reptile surveys would be particularly advantageous. You will be required to carry out some report writing, research and data analysis in this role.

You will be joining a leading UK Specialist Contractor, with an enviable client list across the Construction, Civil Infrastructure, Rail and Utilities industries. Based across three offices in Leicestershire, the Wirral and Dorset, my client has a truly nationwide capability. The company offers a flexible and friendly working environment with a generous annual leave quota.

Qualifications & Experience:

The successful candidate will have:

* A degree and/or post-graduate qualification in a relevant ecology or biological sciences discipline
* Demonstrable survey experience
* A good understanding of key ecological survey methodologies for a wide range of fauna and flora with emphasis on protected species and habitats
* Possession of a GCN or Bat Licence or close to achieving this (desired)
* Ability to work site-based ecology survey hours (essential)
* Proven field work and excellent report writing skills
* Hold a full UK driving licence
