Our People Are Our Greatest Resource
Graduate Performance Improvement Engineer – Recycling Operations
Location – Bristol, with UK wide travel as required.
Salary - £27,000 per annum

At Viridor, we're one of the UK's leading recycling, renewable energy and waste management companies and part of the FTSE 250 Pennon Group. We put waste into action, transforming it into high quality recyclables, raw materials and energy and are at the forefront of the UK's green economy.

We are looking for a Graduate Performance Improvement Engineer to join our team to support the delivery of WorkSmart, Viridor's Operational and Maintenance Strategy to ensure a successful implementation of the programme. You will be at the forefront of championing an approach that facilitates and drives Continuous Improvement across the business and will have the opportunity to really make an impact.

You will apply the skills you have learnt and support the site teams across a network of highly technical automated recycling facilities, delivering effective and sustainable improvements in process reliability, quality and compliance.

Working closely with the Operations teams, you will play a pivotal role in identifying new and better ways of working, as well as assisting in defining, prioritising and planning the resources and technical requirements needed for work streams to be delivered on time.

You will provide technical/engineering support and expertise to the site teams through the delivery of the WorkSmart programme, which will lead to increased safety, plant performance, quality and capacity across the MRF, glass, plastics and polymers recycling assets.

As our Graduate Performance Improvement Engineer, you will have secured a degree in Engineering (Electrical, Process or Mechanical) and completed process engineering and/or maintenance exercises or the practical application of these. You will have sound understanding of Health and Safety legislation, along with process and maintenance improvement and possess a keen interest in new technologies.

The successful candidate will be very highly motivated, energetic and have a passion for making a difference. Understanding how to bring the very best out of our site-based teams is essential, you will need to have a sympathetic ear, and be able to give credit when credit is due.

The Successful Graduate Performance Improvement Engineer will demonstrate:

*Commercial awareness and an ability to think logically and identify root causes whilst providing solutions. *Ability to engage effectively and gain support from stakeholders across different teams and levels. *Focus and passion for high quality standards and a forward-thinking attitude on mechanisms to reduce defects. *Strong analytical skills and ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop business cases. *A good understanding of Lean/process improvements/process mapping and FMEA would be advantageous but not essential. *You will be required to have clear, precise, and regular communication with all stakeholders, this includes ongoing project/program status reports

As this role will require working alongside multiple stakeholders, teams and management both internal and external, strong relationship building skills are essential and high levels of resilience, drive and tenacity will be key.

For your hard work and commitment, we offer a competitive salary of £27,000 pa as well as a great package of benefits, including:
