You will be joining our newly formed and fast-growing Data Science team, which provides support across the business. You will have the chance to work with experts on a wide range of different topics, combining your Python knowledge with their domain expertise. Our work touches on many aspects of sustainability This ranges from helping to monitor and understand air quality in cities, to explore the environmental impact of new technologies, to inform better water and energy use, or to minimise waste.

Purpose:

You will provide guidance and mentoring to support best practice in Python Data Science projects. You will also work to support the digital transformation of the business by fostering a stronger appreciation of the art of the possible.

This is a varied role in which you will have the opportunity to work on different projects and gain broad exposure to the world of environmental consultancy. You will work collaboratively with colleagues within the business to introduce them to professional Python development concepts. A key part of the role will be to mentor and upskill colleagues, as well as to encourage greater adoption of Data Science techniques .

Key competencies and experience:

Strong proficiency in Python, with 3+ years of professional experience

Demonstrable experience of:

* Mentoring junior staff and developing capability in teams
* Direct engagement with non-technical stakeholders to build understanding and enthusiasm for Data Science capabilities, and to identify areas for innovation
* Development of data pipelines and data management
* Version control systems, test engineering and continuous integration
* No previous experience or education in the environmental sector is necessary, but a passion for what we do is essential
