• Grade & Salary: 6, £34,427 rising to £37,656 over four years

• Work pattern: 37 hours per week

Role Purpose

High levels of agricultural pollution incidents in Wales have caused significant fish kills and impacted on water quality. NRW along with its partners are developing a strategy and influencing policy to tackle agricultural pollution in Wales. 

As part of this strategy, NRW is delivering a programme of work to reduce agricultural pollution in the dairy sector. The Senior Officer will work proactively in catchments engaging with farmers and land managers, providing advice and guidance on pollution prevention and compliance with relevant legislation. 

The Senior Officer will provide technical development to junior officers and quality assure visits and reports. The Senior Officer will carry out farm inspections and prepare reports that will assess the provision for farm effluent storage and management, making recommendations, when appropriate, for achieving compliance. 

They will focus on the more complex issues/case work and provide specialist advice in the context of Environment Management, Agriculture and the Dairy Project. 

Qualifications and Skills

Experience of project development and management. (Desirable) 

Overall understanding of the sustainable management of natural resources, with focused expertise in a distinct area of the Environment Team remit.

Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and the public, explaining issues and gaining support by influencing. 

Good knowledge and experience of regulatory and enforcement processes.

Hold a current full UK valid licence to drive NRW fleet vehicles. (cars and vans)
