You will be joining our newly formed and fast-growing Data Science team, which provides support across the business. You will have the chance to work with experts on a wide range of different topics, combining your Python knowledge with their domain expertise. Our work touches on many aspects of sustainability. This ranges from helping to monitor and understand air quality in cities, to exploring the environmental impact of new technologies, to informing better water and energy use, and to minimising waste.

Purpose:

This is a varied role in which you will have the opportunity to work on different projects and gain broad exposure to the world of environmental consultancy. From day one, you’ll be involved in high-profile environmental consultancy projects. You will use your technical skills to support colleagues in automating workflows, data wrangling and applying the latest data analysis techniques.

You will work collaboratively with professionals within the business to introduce them to data science concepts, with opportunities to mentor and upskill non-technical colleagues.

Key competencies and experience:

* Strong proficiency in Python
* Demonstrable experience of:
* Developing data pipelines, manipulating and cleaning data, extraction of data
* Developing simple web-apps to present and visualise data
* Versioning systems (e.g. Git)
* Understanding of statistics and both the applications and limitations of machine learning
* Strong oral and written communication skills in order to communicate insights and mentor non-technical colleagues.
* Interest and ability to learn and apply new technologies
* No previous experience or education in the environmental sector is necessary, but a passion for what we do is essential
* Bachelors (2.1 or above) or Masters degree in a relevant discipline (computer science, data science). Alternatively, equivalent work experience in software development or data science fields.
