The Opportunity:

We are looking to recruit a motivated and ambitious Senior Ecological Tree Climber to expand our ecological team at our main office in Stoke-on-Trent. The ecology team works alongside other environmental professionals within WA, including planners, archaeologists, arborists and landscape architects.  
In this role, you will assist with the following:  

• Extensive fieldwork experience including;
o Demonstrated experience in the field for not only bats but great crested newts and habitats  
o Competent Phase 1 Habitat surveyor - desirable but not essential FISC Level 3 
• Capable of managing medium to large projects 
• Confident analysis and reporting ability; able to record, interpret and present scientific data for a wide range of projects and uses
• Written and held Protected Species Licences
• Capable of Ecological Impact Assessment and Environmental Statement Chapter production
• Commercially Enthusiastic; willing and confident in liaising with clients, key contacts and suppliers and able to quote for new work.

You:

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about ecology and must be committed to seeking beneficial ecological solutions for development activities. We would expect candidates to have:

• Demonstrable knowledge of current relevant environmental/wildlife legislation
• Bat Class 2 Natural England Survey Licence
• Aerial rescue tickets
• Experience Tree climbing
• Practical experience in ecological field work.
• A minimum qualification of a BSc (Hons) in Ecology, or similar accredited course.
• A full driving licence.
• An adaptable and flexible approach to work, to meet demands at peak times.  As the role is likely to involve occasional longer and / or unsociable hours, a willingness to undertake moderate (significant at times) travel to sites within the UK is essential.
• Preferable: Have their own harness/climbing gear which has been LOLER inspected.
