Our organisation
Inland Fisheries Ireland was established on 1 July 2010 by the Inland Fisheries Act 2010.
Our principal function is to protect, manage and conserve Ireland's inland fisheries and sea angling resources.

Our vision is to position Ireland's inland fisheries and sea angling resources as sustainably as possible for the benefit of future generations.

Our legislation
The foundation of Inland Fisheries Ireland's work to protect, manage and conserve Ireland's inland fisheries is in legislation.
The general functions of our organisation are to:
(a) Promote, support, facilitate and advise the Minister on the conservation, protection, management, marketing, development and improvement of Ireland's inland fisheries, including its sea angling resources.
(b) Develop and advise the Minister on policy and national strategies relating to inland fisheries and sea angling.
(c) Ensure implementation and delivery of policy and strategies developed under (b) as agreed with the Minister.
