ABOUT USWho We Are
Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust is a registered charity that collaborates with the local community to safeguard and enhance the environment, creating a better future for wildlife, people and the green spaces that we all depend on.
We manage 15 nature reserves including Wyming Brook, Greno Woods, and Centenary Riverside, and offer a year-round program of events and activities to inspire people of all ages to learn about nature and enjoy the great outdoors.
The Trust’s advocacy efforts are focused on protecting wildlife and green spaces, including standing up for threatened areas and empowering others to take action for nature. Our goal is to ensure that 30% of land and water are excellent for nature by 2030, and that everyone has access to green space within a five-minute walk from their homes.
We are also part of a national network of 46 Wildlife Trusts, working together for a better deal for nature and people locally and in the wider world.
Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust works with the local community through a range of engagement activities to connect people with nature, from Wild Play and Wild at Heart’s inclusive activities for the young and old alike.
As a registered charity, we rely on the generous support of our members, volunteers and supporters. Together with our members we manage our nature reserves, run conservation projects, deliver environmental education activities and provide thousands of volunteering opportunities each year.
What We Do
Our vision is to see a Living Landscape – an amazing, green landscape for the wildlife and people of Sheffield and Rotherham – which is understood, enjoyed and cared for by local people and organisations.
We are guided by three outcomes to help us achieve this vision:
- Connecting People with Nature: We connect people with the natural world through innovative programmes.
- Creating a Network for Nature: We take care of 15 nature reserves across Sheffield and Rotherham.
- Taking Action for Nature and Wildlife: We campaign for a better deal for nature and inspire people to take action in their own lives.
