Green Skills For Green Jobs
The Green Skills for Green Jobs summit is taking place on November 22nd, at The Royal Institute of British Architects. Chaired by Philip Whiteman, Chief Executive of SEMTA and sponsored by British Gas; this year's summit features eminent speakers including both the Minister and Shadow Minister for Skills, John Hayes MP and Gordon Marsden MP, who will be sharing a platform to debate how the Government is planning to equip the UK workforce with the skills that will help us to secure our low carbon prosperity.
The summit features a top level speaker programme including:
• Nick Chambers - Executive Director of the Employers & Education Taskforce – Transforming the way employers and academia engage.
• Professor Julia King - UK Low Carbon Business Ambassador & Vice Chancellor of Aston University – Can a green skilled workforce give UK
businesses more opportunities in international markets?
• Simon Perryman – Executive Director of the UKCES – Overcoming barriers to encourage growth in Green Collar careers.
• Brian Berry – Director of External Affairs of the Federation of Master Builders – Incentivising SME's to offer more Green Collar careers
The event will begin with an interactive panel debate, inviting all attendees to put their questions to both Ministers and their fellow panellists, including Paul King, Chief Executive of the UK Green Building Council and John Chudley, Director of the National Apprenticeship Service.
