Technical Officer

Salary: £20,000 - £21,500 pa, dependent on experience
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time
Location: Based in Halesworth, Suffolk (opportunities for flexible and remote working)

What do we do?

World Land Trust (WLT) is an international conservation charity that helps to protect the world’s most biologically significant and threatened habitats, acre by acre, including the development of carbon and other payments for ecosystem services projects.

As the pioneers of the Buy an Acre approach, we have spent more than 30 years raising funds for local people to secure and protect the land they know best in South America, Africa, Asia and beyond. With over 2,300,000 acres protected and 2,300,000 native trees funded to date, our ambition is to now drive this conservation action at scale – and that, in this make-or-break decade for the planet, includes protecting some of the ecosystems key to mitigating catastrophic climate change.

What you will be doing

This is an opportunity to build on WLT’s ongoing achievements in implementing effective conservation projects around the world.  As Technical Officer, your role will be to support our Conservation Programmes team in the expansion of our conservation work, primarily providing technical support for the establishment, development and monitoring of new and existing projects, and assessing their conservation impact. You will also provide support to WLT’s Communications team in producing content for WLT’s website and social media accounts, primarily through the creation of maps.

Who we are looking for

We’re looking for candidates with an excellent knowledge of spatial and ecological data analyses, monitoring and GIS, with preference for candidates with experience in fieldwork and biodiversity conservation.  You will have good communication skills, be able to work independently as well as in close collaboration with colleagues, and be able to translate technical reports and assessments to a wide range of audiences. You will be passionate about wildlife conservation and committed to furthering the mission and ethos of WLT.

Why work for us?
