Our client has a fantastic opportunity for someone who can lead groups of specialists and deliver timely results.

The primary responsibility of this position is to successfully lead the delivery of multi-disciplinary teams for power transmission and distribution projects. This could be delivered on suite of internal projects or through secondment roles within our client organisations. It will involve the management and direction of the delivery team with respect to technical content, budget, change management, quality, and safety. Externally, the role will also include a significant level of client liaison and relationship management. We would also expect a level of business development to form part of the role.

It is expected that you will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • proven success in the delivery of complex projects working for a consultancy, developer, contractor, utility or a major industry client.
  • experience across the full project development life cycle (Concept, FEED, and Detailed Engineering, through construction and handover to close out.).
  • experience in dealing with contracts, both industry standard (e.g., FICIC and NEC) and bespoke, and different delivery models (e.g., fixed lump sum or target cost) ability to bring and develop best practice approaches to change management, risk management, schedule, and cost management, along with all other project management competencies
  • ability to make complex decisions, ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to, accepting responsibility for own actions.
  • meets challenges with resourcefulness, generates suggestions for improving work and develops innovative approaches and ideas.
  • reaches decisions assuredly in an environment of peer, management, and client scrutiny; and
  • creates a work environment which promotes health, safety, and wellbeing.

Candidate Specification

About you

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline and preferably Chartered with relevant professional body
  • Some experience within the Power Transmission & Distribution sector is preferred
  • Proven delivery of major capital projects across all phases from concept to start up and operation
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to adapt and work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Full Irish driving licence - able to travel to other offices and sites and overseas as required
  • Familiarity with Management of Change, risk management, and project controls aspects of successful project delivery.
  • Collaborative skills: the job of Project Manager requires that they work with cross-functional teams, so it is vital that they can work with people from various backgrounds
  • Excellent and effective verbal and written communication skills, evidenced by influencing, engaging, and facilitating workgroups, as well as through managing interfaces with engineering consultants, construction, operations, and others
  • Multi-tasking skills: applicants should be able to manage different simultaneous efforts, prioritising work with the most business impact, and eliminating any non-value-added work
  • Possess the leadership authority to manage a range of technical people and contractors. Candidates should be able to evidence effective team leadership and coordination, as well as direction of a group encompassing diverse staff and contractors.
