Energy Saving Trust is a leading and trusted organisation, dedicated to promoting energy efficiency, low carbon transport and sustainable energy use. We aim to address the climate emergency and deliver the wider benefits of clean energy as we transition to net zero.

The role

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join the Energy Saving Trust’s Business Development department where you will be working on a wide range of innovative and ground-breaking projects that assist the UK’s transition to a low carbon economy.

As a member of the Data and Digital team, you’ll be responsible for delivering data analysis, insight, and consultancy services to a range of clients, including central and local government, energy suppliers, manufacturers, and retailers. Energy Saving Trust assists these organisations by helping them understand the potential costs and benefits of different approaches to retrofit planning, decarbonisation, and fuel poverty mitigation, which in turn allows them to develop more effective policies and strategies.

What you’ll do

As an analytics expert, you’ll work closely with our team to update and improve Energy Saving Trust’s ‘Home Analytics’ data service. Home Analytics brings together numerous datasets on the UK housing stock. By applying advanced statistical and geo-spatial models, Home Analytics predicts the potential for energy efficiency improvements in every home across Great Britain. You’ll be responsible for contributing to our regular update and improvement processes and for using Home Analytics to help solve client problems through the development of interactive maps and dashboards as well as bespoke analysis and reporting.

As a data consultant, you’ll work closely with our existing client base to ensure that the data provided is accurate and that our clients extract maximum value from our services. Over time you’ll also attend new client meetings to interpret client requirements and deliver effective proposals that secure new work. Your ability to analyse data, solve problems, and communicate technical information in a clear and engaging manner is essential.

What you’ll bring

The role will be suited to a fast learner with a strong interest in data analysis. Demonstrated experience in one or more relevant areas (eg R programming, statistical modelling, PowerBI, SQL Server, GIS) and the desire to develop these skills further is important.

Your ability to plan and prioritise work is essential in this busy environment, along with demonstrated effective communication skills enabling you to deliver a high standard of customer service. Experience working collaboratively with colleagues across teams and roles to deliver data-driven insights and process improvements will underpin the successful delivery of this role.

This is a permanent position. Our standard weekly hours are 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday. We are open to flexible working patterns and home-based or blended (home and office-based) working is possible for this role.

Energy Saving Trust offers a range of benefits to all employees such as flexible working, an employee assistance programme and a wellbeing allowance.  Please see our careers page for more info.

For more information, and to apply please visit our website.

Applications close 9am on Monday 4 July 2022.

To address the urgent challenges posed by the climate emergency, we need a diversity of people, experiences and ideas. We strongly encourage applicants from a wide range of backgrounds and with different identities and experiences to apply for roles with Energy Saving Trust.

If you think you may need some additional support or reasonable adjustments made to any part of the application/recruitment process, please get in touch with recruitment@est.org.uk.

The majority of our people are working from home but have access to our office locations – Edinburgh, London, Cardiff and Belfast. We will be happy to discuss how we are managing this and the transition to a blended working model at the interview stage with you.
