Principal Ecologist (Botanist)

About The Role
Are you an experienced Senior Ecologist with a passion for all things botanical? Do you want to join a senior management team where you will lead on high quality botanical projects, lead a high performing team and be a play a crucial part in staff development?
We are actively seeking a Principal Ecologist to help drive forward the development and delivery of ecological consultancy, notably in terms of high-quality botanical strategy and work. You'll be at the forefront of leading our botanical, habitat and land management work and ensuring exceptional quality fieldwork and impact assessment. We are particularly interested in applicants with a high level in experience in botany, including Annex I habitat surveys and condition assessment.
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- Six years plus-post graduate experience in environmental consultancy or similar.
- Excellent botanical and habitat assessment skills.
- Understanding of habitat management and restoration principles.
- Full, clean EU driving licence.
- A broad range of ecological experience on large-scale projects in key sectors, notably with well-developed expertise in impact assessment of infrastructure proposals.
- A thorough knowledge of ecological legislation and planning policy in Ireland, Northern Ireland and EU.
- Excellent report writing skills and proven project management abilities.
- An excellent understanding of the EU Habitats Directive in so far as they relate to project-based ecological impact assessments being undertaken by an ecological consultancy.
