Gaia Talent is seeking an experienced Ecologist to join our client’s expanding environmental team.

Applicants should ideally have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working in ecological consultancy and have a strong knowledge of wildlife policy and legislation.

Minimum requirements:
  • Relevant third level Degree (Level 8 or higher);
  • A minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience within the field of ecological consultancy;
  • Knowledge of relevant wildlife policy and legislation, and its real-world application;
  • Must be willing to work regular unsocial hours associated with bat survey work during the period April to October inclusive;
  • Must be comfortable, where appropriate and safe to do so, with working within water bodies to carry out aquatic surveys;
  • Largely working from our Galway office but willing to work in our Dublin, Cork, and Castlebar offices when required;
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office;
  • QGIS mapping skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
The following would be advantageous:
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM);
  • Holder of a survey license for at least one European Protected Species;
  • Experienced in aquatic monitoring, surveying, and reporting;
  • Water framework sampling experience.
  • Applicants should hold a full clean driver’s license and a vehicle so they can travel for surveys.
