Opportunity:

Take this opportunity to join a leading, internationally recognised multidisciplinary consultancy and be a part of their expanding Ecology team. Our client is looking to take on a new Ecologist at their Cambridge office, contributing to the wider London and Southeast ecology practice. With over 130 ecologists across the UK, you’ll be working with other experienced professionals, delivering on a wide range of engaging projects, promoting net zero and nature positive ideals whilst ensuring the production of high-quality work. As the new Ecologist on the team, you’ll have the opportunity to work across a variety of market sectors, including renewable, infrastructure, property and utilities. The client offers flexible working hours to suit you and a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to work at home, in the field or out of the Cambridge office when it suits you.

Responsibility:

As the new Ecologist on the team, your responsibilities will include:

* Both creating your own and peer reviewing the reports and license applications of junior staff.
* Designing and organising ecological mitigation strategies.
* Mentoring and supporting the junior team members.
* Planning and carrying out ecological field surveys and analysing gathered data.
* Developing and maintaining new and existing client relationships.
* Developing new business, handling client enquiries and preparing bids.

Requirements:

To be considered for this Ecologist position, you will need to meet as much of the following criteria as possible:

* Member of a relevant professional body, such as CIEEM.
* Experience with organising and coordinating a variety of ecological surveying and assessment techniques.
* Experience with produce a variety of reports and license applications, including PEAs, EcIAs and HRAs.
* Possess strong botanical skills, ideally possessing a FISC level 4 certification.
* Experience with project management, able to budget and manage time effectively.
* Strong knowledge of the DEFRA biodiversity metric, UKHabs and HCAs, as well as experience with undertaking biodiversity net gain assessments.
* Hold one or multiple protected species licenses.
* Hold a full, clean UK drivers’ license.
