The Client

An opportunity has arisen with our client, an established and recognised consultancy based in the North East.

Our client is a specialist organisation delivering geotechnical related consultancy and contracting services.  Their service portfolio capability includes site investigation lead projects, including stabilisation services, from testing and investigation through to environmental and remediation services.  Being well established within the industry, they have a varied client footprint and strong client relationships which has allowed delivery of services into the large infrastructure projects through to smaller developments, providing a great variety of work.  

Culturally, they have a small company feel and culture which encourages autonomy amongst staff which is reinforced by a flat management structure within the organisation, so direct support is on hand if required.  The organisations approach is customer focused and geared towards long term relationships.  A senior appointment is required, which is a key role in the organisation which will form a vital link between clients and technical delivery of future projects.  

The Roles

Reporting to the Managing Director, a Business Consultant will be the commercial interface between clients and the technical teams.  Primary responsibilities would be to maintain and develop the client relationships and ensure that tenders and proposals are accurately costed.

In addition to preparation and costing of new projects and extensions to existing projects, there would be a requirement to monitor the performance of existing projects to ensure that projects are delivered on time and budget.  Mentoring and support of the existing delivery team by looking at how the projects are delivered creatively would be an large element of this.  In addition to this technical work, representing the organisation to new and existing clients in order to maintained and develop the organisations workload will be a major part of the role. 

The successful applicant must have at least 10 years experience within the geotechnical or ground investigation industry and a proven history of managing, pricing and monitoring of contracts to a high standard. The applicant will maintain lines of communication between the senior management of Dunelm together with a development of existing and new relationships with clients, consultants and other project stakeholders.


The Individual

Based within the North East, the successful candidate would be expected to have;

A track record of delivering geotechnical work or site investigations within the UK

A track record of developing business, tendering or estimating, or be able to demonstrate potential for performing in this role

A good client facing manner and enthusiasm to play a senior commercial role in a business.
