The Client


An opportunity has arisen with our client, an established consultancy for an individual to join the team.


Our client is a well regarded consultancy delivering multi disciplinary services into a number of markets throughout the UK. Established for 20 years, they have a reputation for outstanding technical acumen an delivery of complex solutions into a number of sectors including utilities, development and energy & infrastructure and can boast some interesting and high profile projects.  They are well known in the market for delivering land quality assessment services, geotechnical design and assessment, groundwater water modelling, and risk assessment services geared around site development.  The property division is the fastest growing division within the organisation and rapid expansion and promotion of existing staff has enabled the organisation to create a further key role.  In addition, a recent acquisition has allowed exposure to a stable new client base and in house skills resource which makes this opportunity particularly interesting.

Forming part of the management team, a motivated individual is sought, who will play a leading role in the multidisciplinary office in Bristol and also to lead and grow a team of geo-environmentalists.  It would be expected that the successful individual would take the lead on developing larger accounts and setting the strategy for developing the office in addition to operationally managing the existing business.  


This is a high profile role with the established Bristol office and is central to the company business plan for growth.



The Individual


The successful candidate would be based within an reasonable commute to Bristol and have a track record of delivering geo-environmental services within the UK. This could include land / groundwater, ground investigation / engineering or geotechnical from a consultancy or contracting background. 


They would be expected to have a broad technical understanding of planning and delivery, paramount would be the ability to relate this technical understanding and be able to conduct commercial conversations with clients and stakeholders.  It is envisaged that the successful individual would have the following;


  • Have 10+ years’ experience working as a consultant or contractor within the Geo-Environmental Sector within the UK
  • Have successfully completed a relevant degree course, and/or additional Masters training, in a relevant discipline, this may include; Geology; Hydrogeology; Environmental Science; Geochemistry; Engineering Geology /Environmental Geology.
  • Have a good technical understanding of Land Quality investigation, assessment and remediation within the UK.
  • Have strong and up-to-date understanding of relevant regulatory regimes and legislation within the UK.
  • Have a good understanding of the value of geo-environmental work upon property transaction  and development.
  • Chartered status with a relevant institution (CGeol, CEnv, or CEng), or be progressing such


The Role


The successful candidate will form a key part of the Senior Management Team will play an integral role in managing both the establishing the geoenvironmental presence in Bristol, as well as inputting strategically into the UK team.  

Key responsibilities will include:


  • Project Delivery, taking the lead role in effective delivery of a range of land quality based projects, working closely with colleagues to ensure high-quality technical output. You will manage project staff members in the successful delivery of projects from initial bid to issue of reports
  • Opportunity generation and proposal writing
  • Management of multidisciplinary land quality focussed projects
  • Support to clients in the Property sector including land owners, developers or perspective purchasers in the land transaction based market
  • Preparation and review of technical reports
  • Staff management, development and training
