About Us

May Walters is a boutique search consultancy specialising in senior positions within the environmental sector.

The Client

An opportunity has arisen with our client, an established consultancy for an individual to join the team.

Our client is a well established multi disciplinary partnership, with a number of service lines from engineering through to environmental, both on a national and international basis.  The environmental division has a track record of delivering, environmental planning, acoustic/air and ESIA through to ground engineering solutions, comprising geotechnical, site investigation and land contamination consultancy.  Their client footprint is typically within the waste, energy and development sector, the latter typically is with commercial and mixed use projects within the UK and they have a number of credible interesting and sometimes complex case studies.

Upward promotion from within the team has allowed for an opportunity to add a Principal Consultant to join the team in the geo-environmental division.

The Role

A motivated individual is sought, who will be able to lead the team of geo-environmentalists, within the North East Region.  It would be expected that the successful individual would take the lead in managing and mentoring more junior members of the team and help to direct larger projects as well as making sure that reports submitted to clients are of the correct quality.  Operationally, allocation of resource to ensure that projects are delivered in good time would also be paramount.

The team works with other offices and regions to deliver on the larger projects, hence although the work is largely regionalised, some travel throughout the north and midlands may be required.

The Individual

The successful candidate would be based within the Yorkshire area.

They would be expected to have;

Relevant qualifications and charterships (or be progressing)

A 8 year + track record of delivering contaminated land investigations or remediation projects within the UK

Experience of developing client relationships by effective delivery of projects

A desire to lead and motivate a successful team and a good client project delivery ethic.

The team has a very low staff turnover and my client is keen that the right person is acquired to maintain this record.  The culture is very open and honest, with very little hierarchy and there is an emphasis on training and development so that an individual can progress themselves throughout their career. They have a flexible approach to work / working from home and operating a flexitime system to help the team to maintain a good work/life balance.

In return, a competitive package will be offered as well as the chance to develop a rewarding career.  Applications are encouraged from individuals who would value being a part of this.
