AECOM’s UK Environment team is looking to recruit a Senior or Principal oil and gas ESIA professional to join our Bristol team. In particular, we are looking for an individual with experience in delivering upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas projects, with a particular focus on major oil and gas pipeline ESIAs with major global clients. The successful candidate will have a track-record of successful project delivery and client management, with strong technical skills, preferably with experience working in the Caspian region and East Africa. Past experience in direction and management of baseline studies and technical assessments completed by sub-contractors would be beneficial. Experience delivering projects to IFC performance standards would also be beneficial.

Our UK Environment & Planning business, which sits within the Environment and Ground Engineering division, comprises over 200 people across approximately 20 offices. In London and the South East we have a team of around 70 individuals practicing on environmental impact assessment, social impact assessment, strategic impact assessment and policy, and corporate sustainability within the UK and internationally. Typically there are up to around 200 different projects running at any one time by the Environment & Planning team in London.

Our ESIA teams often work very closely with our engineering and design colleagues, who are delivering exciting, major projects. We provide support to clients at all stages of the development process, including feasibility, optioneering, promotion through planning and project implementation.

We have an enviable client base which includes all of the major oil and gas companies, including BP, Shell, Exxon, TOTAL, ConocoPhillips, Statoil, and Tullow Oil.

The following provides a sample of our recent and current projects:

  • Shah Deniz Stage 2 Project (terminal expansion, offshore platform, subsea wells and pipelines in Azerbaijan).

  • Shallow Water Absheron Peninsula Exploration Programme (seismic surveys in offshore Azerbaijan).

  • Buliisa Upstream Development (onshore oil well development near Lake Albert in Uganda)

  • South Stream (4 gas pipelines across the Black Sea between Ukraine and Bulgaria).

  • Deepwater exploration drilling offshore Suriname.

  • Offshore seismic survey in Mauritania

Job Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be expected to undertake the following illustrative roles and responsibilities:

  • Manage and support in the delivery of ESIA projects to ensure projects are delivered on time and to the highest standard

  • Understand and implement project management principles and fully appreciate the need to work within project budgets

  • Project manage and prepare project documents including Scoping Reports and related technical studies in accordance with project timescales

  • Production of ESIA reports, and Non-Technical Summaries

  • Analyse data effectively and carry out desk based studies when required

  • Assist with the planning and execution of baseline surveys

  • Produce scopes of work for technical studies and review of the completed studies

  • Participate in or lead team meetings and other meetings as and when required

  • Prioritise project actions and meet commitments on an on-going basis while taking ownership and responsibility for the quality and completion of work

  • Assist in the production of ESIA Work Plans, Survey Execution Plans and other Project Management documents as required

  • Keep up to date with relevant environmental legislation, policy and guidance

  • Research issues as part of the ESIA process and to provide ideas, solutions and expertise to the ESIA team

  • Support business development through assistance with the production of Expressions of Interest and tenders, and to continuously improve our service offering for our clients

  • Understand and comply with quality and health & safety requirements and ensure these are addressed throughout a project

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience in ESIA and the oil and gas sector, working for major oil and gas developers

  • Highly motivated and able to work with limited direction

  • Excellent technical and communication skills

  • Flexibility for potential international travel for short term assignments where required

Preferred Qualifications

  • You will have a good first degree and a second degree in an appropriate environmental, scientific or engineering discipline.
