AECOM is looking for an enthusiastic and talented Senior Acoustic Consultant to join our Built Environment Acoustics team in St Albans. You will be working on some of the world’s most challenging and exciting projects within the built environment, including arts, culture and media, education, residential, commercial and healthcare.

At AECOM we have one of the world’s largest Acoustics Teams, with approximately over 50 full time specialists in the UK alone. We undertake a wide range of acoustics projects offering our clients technical support throughout a project lifecycle.

We have an impressive portfolio of major national and international projects. A selection of our current and recent projects includes: Shakespeare North Theatre, English National Ballet New Facilities, UTC Mulberry Theatre, BBC TV studios, Globo TV Studios Rio Brazil, Performing Art Centre Kuala Lumpur, House of Parliament, Elisabeth Tower (Big Ben).

Job Responsibilities:

The appropriate level of expertise is required in order that the Job / Project Accountabilities listed below can be carried out to the necessary standard:

  • Briefing, planning, delivery of a range of building/architectural acoustics projects,

  • Line management Mentor and coachof junior members of the team,

  • Project Management, use of AECOM Management and accounting systems,

  • Bidding/tendering for internal and external opportunities,

  • Computer modelling predictions and optimisations,

  • Review of: field measurements, noise and vibration measurement surveys, calculations and assessment of buildings and architectural acoustics.

Minimum Requirements

  • Consultancy experience in the fields of building/ architectural acoustics for a variety of project types and sizes,

  • Enthusiasm, self-motivation, a team approach and customer focus,

  • Excellent communication and commercial skills,

  • Good IT and organisation skills are essential,

  • Proven Project Management experience,

  • Proven ability to deliver client expectations to budget and timescale,

  • Excellent technical report writing,

  • Experience of acoustic prediction using both spreadsheets and industry recognized software,

  • Be familiar with modelling software CATT Acoustics, ODEON, CadnaA, SoundPLANan

  • Full driving licence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MSc/BSc in Acoustics or a closely associated science or engineering discipline.

  • Membership in professional organisations (IOA, ANC, ASA…)

  • Chartered status preferred
