Are you looking for a new challenge? Do you have previous experience in trade effluent or wastewater treatment processes? If so, we may have a fantastic opportunity within our trade effluent team.

Assets and compliance are looking for a trade effluent officer to join our trade effluent team. You will control trade effluent discharges, as well as issuing and reviewing consents when necessary. This will be done to maintain sewage treatment compliance and protect both the sewerage system and the environment.

As an area trade effluent officer, you will be the main contact for the management of enquiries and consent applications from approximately 200 businesses. You will also negotiate at a strategic level to develop relationships and outcomes with both retailers and traders, and advise on compliance issues. You will also work with our environmental monitoring department and laboratory to agree sampling programmes that will support trader compliance assessments.

You will liaise with other Wessex Water directorates as required and provide trade effluent technical expertise. You will be required to lead on trade effluent investigations, both planned and reactive, as necessary.

We are looking for someone with a degree (or equivalent) in a science related subject. You should have previous experience working in a trade effluent environment or similar, with the ability to produce accurate technical documents to be issued to customers. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel to an intermediate level is a must. This role offers a high level of autonomy, so you need to be able to organise your own work to meet customer demands, as well as providing flexible support to your colleagues as required. You must also be able to travel around various sites in the region.
