The EHS Engineer / Scientist will be contracted to a client site to assist in all aspects of client-side EHS management during the design, construction and commissioning of a new Biotech Pharmaceutical facility in North Dublin, Ireland for between 12 and 24 months (minimum 12 months). It represents an exciting opportunity to be involved in EHS development at the site from a very early stage in the project. The successful candidate will work closely with client operating areas to assist with integrating EHS programs into daily operations to assure client regulatory compliance, achieve continuous performance improvement, and meeting EHS performance objectives. This will be a 100% on-site role but with occasional meetings at AECOM offices in Dublin as required.

Job Duties:

  • Assist in obtaining and then implementation of an EPA Industrial Emissions licence

  • Client side EHS management during the construction phase and commissioning phase.

  • Undertaking / managing emissions monitoring

  • Implementing the Greenhouse Gas licence

  • Develops EHS procedures, guidelines and training programs as assigned.

  • Undertaking safety and environmental audits & inspections (both client and statutory)

  • Assisting in the generation and role-out of EHS Procedures and management systems as per EPA licences, safety statement requirements and also Merck standards and policies

  • Assist client management with in meeting established safety and risk management goals and objectives.

  • Reviews and oversees procedures for investigating accidents.

  • Reviews processes, facilities, procedures and management of change documents to assure conformance to recognized EHS regulations, standards and guidelines.

  • Provides support to client groups in completing injury/illness analysis, training, self-assessments and addressing specific EHS concerns as they are raised

  • Collects and analyzes injury, claim, and safety survey statistical data to write technical reports and makes presentations to contractors and management regarding contractor performance.

  • Assist with Process Safety Management program compliance.

  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Minimum Requirements

  • Applied professional EHS and / or related work experience. Good level of proficiency in the areas of environmental compliance, occupational safety, critical thinking and communication skills. Proficient with project management and problem solving. Experience with EHS agency inspections and regulatory advocacy ideal but not mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, concentration in Engineering, Science, Safety and Environmental, or other technical related disciplines.

  • Applied professional EHS and / or related work experience. Good level of proficiency in the areas of environmental compliance, occupational safety, critical thinking and communication skills. Proficient with project management and problem solving. Experience with EHS agency inspections and regulatory advocacy ideal but not mandatory.
