The Client

A rare opportunity has arisen with our client, to acquire an individual to perform a key role within their environmental division.

Our client is a niche and respected expanding multidisciplinary consultancy.  Established for over 30 years, this privately held consultancy employs over 60 staff both from the head office based in Woking and also from 6 other offices throughout the UK.  They have a reputation for delivering transport planning, design and environmental expertise in infrastructure and development projects.  The environmental division has credibility in delivering complex architectural & environmental acoustics, air quality through to environmental construction and waste management.  A key factor in their success is that they can demonstrate a superior knowledge of the planning process when delivering their environmental services and as such they have developed strong client relationships.

The acoustics team have respected expertise in environmental and architectural work, as well as other acoustic design disciplines, and attract technically challenging projects involving complex design and mitigation strategies.  Recent example projects include a new garden city creating 7,500 new homes; unlocking development opportunities for noise constrained site allocations; licensing support for a high profile music festival; environmental impact assessments for a number of large urban extensions; and supporting consultancy advice for a world famous car and motoring TV series.

The Role

This role is a key appointment to support the growth of the practice’s noise and vibration team.  Primary responsibilities of the role would include;

Manage, motivate and offer technical guidance to a small but well performing acoustic team. 

Maintain the quality of delivery and reports liaise with clients as appropriate.

Our client has a strong culture of training and development, hence why the delivery and development responsibilities are paramount to ensure they continue to grow whilst maintaining the quality of approach to clients. 

Other responsibilities can be discussed and created, dependent on the expectations of the successful individual.    

The Individual

The successful applicant would likely;

Be located within striking distance to Woking (some remote working may be considered, as would relocation)

Have a solid knowledge of the UK’s planning system and noise legislation.

Have a proven track record of delivering environmental projects. Experience in other design disciplines would also be advantageous.

Have good verbal and written communication skills.

Technically sound and an ability to mentor junior staff.
