We are currently seeking a Principal Landscape Architect to join our Plymouth office to develop the LVIA market and technical delivery of development and planning projects. As a member of one of the UK’s largest and most diverse landscape practices, you will take a lead on a range of regionally significant projects, including key urban regeneration, environmental enhancement and infrastructure schemes; along with opportunities to work on national and international projects.

We will consider applicants with a wide range of experience but a proven track record in UK based, LVIA and landscape planning, is essential.

Job Responsibilities:

Applicants should be able to demonstrate an appropriate level of technical expertise in order to be able to carry out the following job/project accountabilities:

  • Ability to work collaboratively and iteratively within a multi-disciplinary design team.

  • Working as a Project Manager, project management responsibilities, including contractual, financial and programme management.

  • Establish strong working relationships with other members of the landscape team and internal/ external teams across the business.

  • Develop and manage the work of others, including as a P2C mentor.

  • Clear communication, including the ability to write concise technical reports and to contribute to conference calls, meetings and workshops.

  • Be client facing and respond to client requirements.

  • Produce or oversee the production of drawings and other technical documentation using appropriate software, with the necessary level of detail as required at various stages of development for LVIA and planning projects.

  • Compile tender submissions and secure new work.

  • Have an innovative approach to problem solving and the ability to embrace new opportunities.

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience of preparing high quality landscape and/or townscape and visual impact assessments and appraisals.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the UK legal and planning system with respect to landscape architecture.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications.

  • Experience of some or all of the following would also be very useful: AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Cloud, ArcGIS, AutoCAD Civils 3D, Revit or ProjectWise.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute.

  • Degree or Master’s in landscape architecture or equivalent.

  • Full UK driving licence.
