AECOM is seeking a Senior Project Manager to support the busy Central England ecology team in the delivery of major infrastructure projects. We are very focussed on data quality and continual improvement and hence we are looking for an individual to implement process and technological change, initially within specific projects and later across the whole regional business. In brief, we are looking to review, and refine our data management processes using new database technologies.

The role will be based in Nottingham working on high profile, challenging and innovative projects. The Nottingham ecology office (is a dynamic lively environment with a large team comprising graduate environmentalists and ecologists, senior ecologists, green infrastructure specialists and project managers.

They will be providing additional project management support from a non- technical background as well as limited technical support to build a firm and broader understanding of ecology which will enable their development as an ecology project manager

The ideal person will be highly motivated, pro-active, focused and organized, with an eye for detail and good communication skills. They may also, ideally, have a keen interest in wildlife and conservation and be keen to understand the ecological work being managed. This will create added value through a deeper understanding of the wider Ecology business.

Job Duties:

  • Understand the need of field and office based staff to inform the continued development of data collection and data-interfacing systems which can be used across projects, regions and disciplines, recognising that these inputs ultimately need to contribute to revenue generation over the coming 12 months;

  • Work with others in the regional team to lead in the deployment of the newly designed Survey Management Platform across regional and national projects;

  • Contribute to all aspects of ecological project management such as: bidding, commercial budgeting, planning, resourcing, scheduling and programming;

  • Provide review support for client technical deliverables;

  • Support quality management across all aspects of project delivery;

  • Contribute to the continued improvement of Health & Safety systems and protocols employed by the team, and lead in their implementation;

  • Line management of individuals and helping to support the development of other individuals in similar roles;

  • Propose and evaluate technical innovation with regional and national colleagues;

  • Undertake a limited number of ecological surveys with other lead surveyors to gain a broader understanding of survey techniques and methodologies, so as to better inform future management and leadership on ecology projects;

  • Provide leadership support in growth of the regional ecology business.

Specific Skills Required :

  • Good IT skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, databases)

  • Self-starter, pro-active and motivated

  • Detail oriented and results-driven. Committed to delivering complex tasks on time and on budget. Experienced in pre-empting potential programme risks, identifying relevant mitigation measures and implementing these in a timely manner;

  • Ability to remain focussed and productive through sustained periods of high pressure and workload;

  • Good communication and facilitation skills

Minimum Requirements

  • A background in engineering and experience of working on large infrastructure projects would be preferable. Significant process improvement experience would be advantageous. An interest in British wildlife and the natural environment is optional but would add real value.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Business, IT, engineering or environmental sciences.
