About Us

Created in 2000, then European Renewable Energy Council (EREC) is the umbrella organization of the European renewable energy industry, trade and research associations active in the sectors of bioenergy, geothermal, ocean, small hydropower, solar electricity, solar thermal and wind energy, thus representing an ever-growing industry sector employing currently more than 450.000 people with an annual turnover of more than 45 billion €.
ERECs main activities include:
- provide information and training on renewable energy sources;
- provide information and consultancy on renewable energies for the political decision-makers on a local, regional, national and international level;
- publish information material (brochures, didactic material, manuals, etc.) on renewable energy sources;
- encourage studies on the economics, techniques and feasibility in the field of renewable energy sources for the member associations, external organisations, as well as public and private institutions;
- co-operate with renewable energy organisations from all over the world;
- promote European exports of equipment and products, and promote the industrial protection of European renewable energy technologies on global markets;
Due to its vast range of activities in the field of RES, EREC gained a comprehensive expertise in the promotion of RES-electricity, heating and cooling from renewables, biofuels as well as promotion of R&D for renewables.
