Marine Harvest ASA is one of the largest seafood companies in the world, and the world’s largest producer of Atlantic salmon. The company employs 6 400 people, and is represented in 21 countries. In 2012 the company had a turnover of NOK 15.4 billion. Marine Harvest is listed on the Oslo stock exchange. Global R&D and Technical is Marine Harvest Group’s central Department supporting the operating units in assuring sound operational practices complying with Marine Harvests sustainability ambitions and the supply of healthy, safe and tasty seafood. The Department is currently set up with 11 technical experts holding university degrees/ PhDs within biology, nutrition, genetics and veterinary medicine. The Global R&D and Technical is responsible for the Group’s breeding and genetics program, fish health & welfare, feeding & nutrition, technology and environment & sustainability as well as, food safety and product quality.
